Neillsville Legion to Honor (Edwin Lloyd, Sr. – 2019)

Edwin “Eddie” Lloyd, Sr. will be one of three June honorees at the Neillsville Legion Post, a group that will also include his son, Edwin Jr.

Lloyd was born in Neillsville. He attended Riverside Grade School and Neillsville High School. He worked on the family farm and eventually joined the Army National Guard in Neillsville.

Lloyd went to basic unit training and advanced training for the infantry at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. He then returned to the National Guard 128th Infantry in Neillsville.

After returning to the Neillsville Infantry, Lloyd’s job at the armory was vehicle and equipment maintenance. He had additional raining at Camp McCoy, later Fort McCoy, and at Camp Douglas.

Lloyd was discharged in 1966 as specialist fourth class. He worked at various jobs and owned his own construction company. He also raised veal and dairy beef on his farm. He worked for the Town of Levis for nine years on road maintenance.

Lloyd and his wife, Bev, have owned and operated Bev’s Saddle Mound Tap in Pray since 2001. Prior to that they owned the Levis Pub for four years.

He and Bev were married in 1965. In addition to Edwin Jr., they have three other living children – Tammy, Cynthia and William. Two of their sons, John and Kevin, are deceased. They also have 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd’s hobbies are trap shooting, golfing, playing horseshoes, fishing and hunting.

Eddie Sr. and Eddie Jr. will be honored along with Don Quicker at an event this Monday, June 3, at American Legion Post 73, 6 Boon Boulevard, Neillsville. There will be a social hour at 4:30 p.m. and a potluck at 5:30 p.m.
