Fiebig, August (24 FEB 1828 - 28 JUL 1909)

(Sheboygan Co. News)

August Fiebig, a former resident of Sheboygan Co., Wis., passed away at his home, 1197 Sixth St., Milwaukee, on Wednesday, July 28, 1909, aged 81 years, 6 months and 4 days. Death was due to paralysis of which he suffered a stroke about six weeks ago, affecting his entire left side and a second stroke a few days before his death hastened his passing. Mr. Fiebig was born in Germany in 1828 and with his wife and children came to America in 1854, settling on a farm in the town of Sheboygan Falls, about half way between the Falls and Plymouth, where Mrs. Fiebig died in 1858. Two years later he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Voigt of the same township, and she survives him, together with two children, H.H. Fiebig of the town of Hull, Marathon Co., and Mrs. Otto Carthaus of Elkhart Lake. There are three children by his first wife as follows: Mrs. Andrew Bierbaum of Sardorus, Ill.; Mrs. Andrew Flaig of Saltese, Mont., and Mrs. Herman Ebenreiter of the town of Sheboygan Falls; also 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Fiebig retired from the farm in 1892 and moved to Milwaukee. The remains were brought here last Saturday afternoon and interred in the Falls Cemetery, the Rev. Schmidt, a Lutheran pastor of Milwaukee, officiating.
