Kops, Carl (13 OCT 1832 - 9 NOV 1905)

Carl Kops died at his residence on Third Street, Thursday morning, Nov. 9th, after an illness of about eight months, aged 73 years and 27 days.

Carl Kops was born in Wurcho..?, Germany, Oct. 13th, 1832; was married to Henrietta Ristow in October 1854; came to America in April 1863, settling on a farm near the city of Milwaukee, from which place he removed to Colby, Clark Co., Wis. in 1876, and was one of the pioneer farmers of the town until in July 1904, when he retired from the farm and purchased a little home in this city. He was the father of nine children, seven of whom are living: Albert of this city; Julius, town of Colby; Mrs. T. Bleiehroth, city; Herman of Unity; Henry of Milwaukee; Fred and Mrs. F. Grambort of this city, all of whom were here to attend the funeral, and with their aged mother, paid their last respects to a true and loving husband and father.

The funeral was held from Zion Lutheran Church, of which deceased was a member, Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock, rev. Lugenheim officiating. The last sad rites were largely attended by his manly old friends from the neighboring towns.
