Rosin, George (26 DEC 1877 - 15 DEC 1904)

The funeral of George Rosin, who was killed on his engine a few miles from Colfax, Wis. at 12:30 last Thursday night, occurred at the Union Church last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. Mr. Wallace conducting the church services. The church was completely filled with relatives and fellow workmen of the deceased who came to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the departed. A large number of Odd Fellows, of which order Mr. Rosin was a member, were also in attendance.

After the reading of scripture and prayer, Mr. Wallace delivered a short and very appropriate address. The regular choir of the church sand "Nearer My God to Thee," "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" during the services.

The interment took place at Colby Cemetery and was conducted by Colby Lodge No. 234, I.O.O.F., assisted by Brothers from Thorp and Unity. The casket covered with floral offerings, was carried by Brother Odd Fellows, and the ceremonies were conducted by Geo. B. Parkhill of Thorp.

Geo. E. Rosin would have been 27 years old the 26th of this month. He was born in Lowell, Dodge Co., Wis., Dec. 26, 1877. He came to Colby, Clark Co., Wis. in 1879, and resided there until he came to Abbotsford two years ago. Since then this place has been his home. He graduated from Colby, Wis. High School in 1897 and taught school for four years previous to entering the service of the Wisconsin Central in whose employ he was for three years.

He leaves a father and mother, six sisters and a wife and child. One sister is Mrs. Dr. Nedry of Dorchester, another is Mrs. J.F. Konesking, living northeast of here.

He married Miss Minnie E. Brown of Thorp, Clark Co., Nov. 27, 1902, two years ago last Thanksgiving. To them a child was born about three months ago, too young at present to know its great loss.

Mr. Rosin was a faithful, reliable workman, well liked by his associates. He was early cut off in his young manhood when life and home were the most near and dear to him. He was one of those whom the community could ill afford to lose. The sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances goes out to the bereaved ones.
