Ingalls, Steve E. (26 JUN 1828 - 7 JUL 1900)

Mrs. S. E. Ingalls died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. Winters, last Saturday morning at about 3 o’clock. Of late Mr. Ingalls had not been in the best of health, but the night previous to his death he rested somewhat easier. He just returned home from a visit a few days prior to his death. Mr. Ingalls was known by everybody as "Uncle Steve," by all who know him highly respected him, for he was an exemplary man. Although totally blind he was able to recognize acquaintances by their voice and he would come down town without any assistance. Mr. Ingalls was about 73 years of age. He had resided with us for some length of time, over twenty years, but would occasionally make trips to neighboring towns to visit friends and relatives. The funeral was held Sunday, and was largely attended. Mr. F. Winters of this place, Mrs. S. Parsneau of Fall River and Geo E. and T. Ingalls, now in California, are the children to mourn his death. Another to mourn his death is Mrs. Ingalls, his life companion.
