Johnson, Severin (14 Dec. 1862 - 26 July 1949)

Funeral services for Severin Johnon, 86, were held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Greenwood at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29. Mr. Johnson died at his home on Route one, at 5 p.m. last Tuesday.

The Rev. T. M. Nelson of Greenwood conducted the services, choosing the 23rd Psalm as his text. The hymns, "Under His Wings" and "Softly and Tenderly," were sung by Gordon Christofferson and Elmer Johnson. Mrs. Don Warner accompanied them.

Six grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Donald Hebert, Howard Hallowell, Edward Johnson, Melford Catlin, Raymond Johnson and Marion Catlin. Mrs. Verland Millard, Mrs. Leon Klein and Lois, Virjean and Betty Hebert, granddaughters of the deceased, were in charge of the flowers. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born in Norway on Dec. 14, 1862. He came to America when he was 20 years old and settled at Neenah. He came to Clark County 54 years ago and settled on a farm in the town of Unity. In 1919 he moved to Greenwood and lived there until after the death of his wife on June 4, 1932, when he went back to the farm and lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sigward Johnson.

His marriage to Hannah Julie Halvorsen took place in Milwaukee on Dec. 31, 1888.

He is survived by five children, Mrs. Charles (Olga) Hallowell and Mrs. Lloyd (Julia) Hebert of Marshfield and Harold and Sigward Johnson and Mrs. Perle (Anna) Catlin of Loyal. There are 23 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. A half-brother, Andrew Olsen, preceded him in death.

Relatives from away who came to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Vern Catlin of Merrill; Melford and Marion Catlin of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hebert of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hebert of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Newman of Spencer, Ole Olsen of Detroit, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hebert and children, Betty, Lois, Virjean and Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hallowell, Mrs. Leon Klein and Howard Hallowell, all of Marshfield.

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved relatives.
