RUTH E "BETTY" OLDHAM (1915-2004)

Surnames: Oldham, Overmyer, Burkett, Clink, Schwert, Hensley, Brown, Schanke, Creighton.

Ruth E "Betty" Oldham, age 88, Fremont, died Thursday afternoon at St. Francis Health care Center, Green Springs, Ohio.

Ruth was born in Fremont to the now –deceased Bryon C and Ruth R (Overmyer) Burkett. Ruth graduated from Ross High School in 1933 and later married LaFayette I Oldham on Nov. 22, 1945 and he died on Feb. 22, 2004.

Ruth was a homemaker and also worked as secretary for the Diels Insurance Agency, Helena, until retiring in 1978. Ruth was a former member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Helena, a current member of Rivers of Living Water Church, Fremont, and a former member of Helena Firemen’s Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughters, Caroline (Don) Clink of Perrysberg and Julia (Harold "Butch") Schwert of Fremont; a son, Larry (Kathy) Oldham of Pataskala, Ohio; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two foster grandchildren, three foster great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandchild; brothers, Bud and Richard (Janet) Burkett of Fremont; sisters, Genevieve (Charles) Hensley of Fremont, and Margaret (Homer) Brown and Patricia (Donald) Schanke, both of Naples, FL. Preceding Ruth in death are her parents, her husband, and sisters, Suzanne Burkett and Helen Creighton.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Herman-Kinn-Karkovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Bishop Robert Jones officiating. Burial: Metzgar Cemetery, Helena.

Memorials: To Shiloh United Methodist Church, Helena, or Rivers of Living Water Church, Fremont.

(A niece has contributed this obituary, and states that this lady was not born in Clark County, but her husband was a native of Pine Valley Township as are many other members of his family, namely siblings and parents.)
