Boon, Leonard James (17 June 1877 - 1 July 1951)

Leonard James Boon, age 74, died at his home in Greenwood on July 1, 1951. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at two o’clock from the Georgas Funeral Home and at 2:30 from the Christie Methodist church. Interment will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery, with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating.

Mr. Boon was born in the town of Weston on June 17, 1877. He received his education in the Clark County schools and on January 28,1916, he was married to Ethel Brown at Neillsville, Wis. He operated a threshing machine and a sawmill, for many years, and during the winter months he worked in the woods. For the past year he has farmed. He had been in ill health for the past five years.

He is survived by his wife, and the following children, Alfred Boon of Greenwood, Clayton Boon and Floyd Boon at home, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Oldham of Neillsville and Mrs. Fred (Florence) Zais, Jr., of Stanley, nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. William (Pearl) Syth of Greenwood, and two brothers, Walter and Peter Boon of Greenwood.

One son, Donald, died in infancy and one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday for Leonard Boon at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Frank Murphy, Fred Buchholz, Clarence Holt, Everett Buettner, Irving Fischer, and George Schaefer.

Floral offerings were in charge of Mesdames George Schaefer, Fred Buchholz and Henry Harder. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harder, Mrs. George Schaefer and Mrs. Fred Buchholz sang two selections accompanied by Miss Verna Schaefer.
