Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 22, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Globe. Rev. John Warmuth will officiate. William Leonard Schultz was born on Sept. 18, 1930, at home on the family farm in the town of Weston, the second youngest of 10 children born to Leonard and Anna (nee Flaig) Schultz. He attended the Globe School until the eighth grade and then worked on the family farm. On July 7, 1953, he entered into the United States Army in Minneapolis, Minn. Bill served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., on June 1, 1955. On Oct. 16, 1954, while in the military, Bill married Betty Jean Foss in Chicago, Ill. They lived in Chicago for a few years and Bill worked at his brother-in-law’s service station. In 1958, they bought Louie Hagedorn’s milk route and moved to Neillsville. A year later, they purchased a farm in the town of Weston and Bill hauled milk and farmed. Eventually, they sold the milk route and he went to work for Boon Construction. For many years, Bill worked at Boon’s and farmed. He held numerous other jobs, too, including nine years at Nelson Filter, from which he retired. Bill was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, tending to his flowers, fishing and hunting, reading, cooking and playing cards. Most of all, though, he enjoyed being with his family at the family get-togethers.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; four children, Donna (Karl) Stieglitz, Dubuque, Iowa, William (Susan) Schultz Jr., Greenwood, Robert (Lori) Schultz, Neillsville, and Jeffery (Michelle) Schultz, Neillsville; six grandchildren, Laura Stieglitz, Amy (Caleb) Eby, Melissa (Josh) Hemp, Nicholas (Jamey Van Epps) Schultz, Mason Schultz and Kamerynn Schultz; four great-grandchildren, Enoch and Micah Eby, and Jackson and Jett Hemp; and two sisters, Donna (Ken) Holtz, Gainesville, Ga., and Janette Formaggio, Harwood Heights, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Haddie Hemp; and seven siblings, Margaret Clawson, Myrtle Pocrnich, Lilly Massie, Leona Fabry, Alfred Schultz, Bernard Schultz and Mabel Bertrang.

Online condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
