Harlan Leroy Peters

Harlan Leroy Peters, age 85, passed away on Nov. 15, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville.

Harlan had been a native of the Cataract area until 2002, when he suffered a stroke that left him blind. He then moved into the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville. Harlan was born Dec. 5, 1917, to Eddie and Clara (Davis) Peters in the Town of Little Falls, Monroe County. He farmed on the family farm for two years after his father passed away and then for various farmers for some years after. On Oct. 25, 1939, he married Marian Pfaff, and they were blessed with three children.

In 1959, Harlan and the family moved and bought the Sinclair station in Black River Falls. In 1971, the family moved again and bought the Phillips station in Onalaska. In 1980, they moved to West Salem and then in June of 1983, they moved to Cataract. Harlan retired in 1985.

Harlan is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Richard) Schleifer of Neillsville, a son Kenneth (Ellen) Peters of Cataract, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by two special friends, June Goodenough and cal Cone of Cataract.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marian (Pfaff) Peters; three brothers, Clarion, Leland, and Leslie; two sisters, Dorothy and Edna; a daughter, Carol Jean Stetzer; a granddaughter-in-law; two grand- children; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Nov. 19, 2003, at the Zwickey Funeral Home, Melrose Chapel, with pastor Robert Dommer officiating. Burial was in the Burns Cemetery, rural Bangor.

Harlan will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.
