TRANSCRIBED TEXT:

This week we are called upon to chronicle the passing away of Mrs. Arvilla P. Turner, who died at the home of her son, W. H. Turner, with whom she made her home since the spring of 1903. Arvilla P. Thompson was born at Madison, Maine May 3, 1836 and came to Clark County in 1856. On January 11, 1857 she was united in marriage to Mr. Abel Turner. In 1870 they moved to the Town of York and settled on the farm now owned and occupied by August Macksam, where she continued to reside until the spring of 1903 when she disposed of her farm (her husband having preceded her in death) and took up her abode with her son where the death messenger claimed her last Tuesday, May 12, 1914 at the age of 78 years and 9 days. She was the mother of six children, namely: W.H., Ben and Abie of York; Mrs. Mary Garvin of St. John, Oregon; Frank of Watertown, South Dakota; and Warren of Absher, Montana. Eighteen grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren are also left to mourn her departure. The funeral obsequies were held in the M. E. Church last Thursday afternoon by Rev. Harris of Loyal and interment was made in York Center Cemetery. The surviving relatives extend thanks to their neighbors and friends for the sympathy shown them in their hour of bereavement, also to the choir and to those who brought flowers. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Catlin, Mr. A. M. Turner and wife, Mr. & Mrs. Walls of Loyal, John Charles and Mrs. Abe Lynch of Neillsville and Lon Stevens of Veefkind were here to attend the funeral.
