The funeral services of Mrs. Sarah Lindsley, who died at the home of her daughter in the Town of York on Thursday morning, November 29, were held at the York Center Church on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Wilson Mallory, of Granton officiating. Interment was made in the York Center Cemetery. Mrs. Sarah Lindsley, whose maiden name was Sarah A. Lawrence, was born at Alexandria, Jefferson County, New York, on March 10, 1840, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Lawrence. At the age of seven years, she came with her parents to Wisconsin and settled at Columbus. On April 15, 1856, Miss Sarah was married to George Lindsley and the newly-weds made their home near Columbus until 1880 when they moved to Clark County and settled in the Town of York. Three children wre born to this union, two sons and one daughter. Mr. Lindsley preceded his wife in death on August 8, 1901. Mrs. Lindsley remained in the Town of York and for many years made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Abie Turner. After an extended illness, Mrs. Lindsley passed away as stated above, on Thursday morning at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 18 days. Deceased leaves to mourn her death her daughter Hattie, Mrs. Abie Turner, of Neillsville, Route 4; and sons Eugene H. Lindsley, of Melbank, South Dakota; and Ernest H. Lindsley of Lansing, Michigan. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
