Myrtle Rigg Laid to Rest Saturday

Funeral services were conducted Saturday from the Griebenow Funeral Home for Myrtle Fritzhugh Rigg, Saturday afternoon, July 27, 1940. Mrs. Rigg was 55 years, 5 months and 3 days of age at the time of her passing from the world. Services were conducted by the Rev. James Irish of Thorp and Interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Myrtle Fritzhugh Rigg was born at Ashland, Ill., on February 21, 1885. When but a child, she moved with her parents to Auburn, Ill., where she made her early home. She attended and graduated from the Sangamon county grade school in 1904. She spent a year teaching from 1905 to 1906 in a school near New Berlin, Ill.

October 3, 1906, she exchanged the holy vows of matrimony with Clarence Rigg. To this union were born a family of six children, to whom she made a wonderful mother and provided them with a fine home.

Mrs. Rigg was a woman who had the devoted love and friendship of all the community. She was an active member in the workings of the Royal Neighbor lodge and the Garden club. Her activities in the Band Mothers Club of Withee will be a memor of her work in this organization and of herself. She was president of the group at the time of her passing.

Her passing away from these earthly things is mourned by her many friends who extend their sympathy to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence and six children, Wayne of Minneapolis; Vernon of Owen; Robert who is at home; Bernice Evelyn Lamont, Flrence Rigg Meyer of VanNeys, Calif.; and Jessie R. Elsen of Madison; four brothers, Eldon, Frank and Clarence of Auburn, Ill., and John of Buffalo, Ill; and one sister, Ada Cambell of Auburn, Ill.; and her mother, Florence, also of Auburn.

Among those who attended the funeral services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. William Rohr of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. E. Elsen and family of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Wason of Minnapolis; Mr. and Mrs. William Blazel and family of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Baland and family of Thorp; Miss Ida Johnson of Minneapolis; Mrs. Frank Griffin of West Concord, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Johnson and family of Mellen.
