Carlsen, Christine (11 Apr 1861 - 7 NOV 1927)

Christine Carlsen, aged 66 years, wife of Fred Carlsen, died suddenly Monday morning at her home five and a half miles northwest of the village of Withee, Clark County, Wis., following a stroke of apoplexy, which she had suffered the morning before.

Sunday morning, Mrs. Carlsen seemed to be in the best of health, and with her husband came to town and attended services at the Danish Lutheran Church, and it was following the services, as she was leaving the building, that she suffered a stroke. She was taken immediately to her home and medical aid summoned, but she did not rally from the illness and the following morning caused her death.

Mrs. Carlsen, with her husband and family, came to this vicinity seventeen years ago, and purchased the farm on which they now reside, and since establishing their residence here she had won for herself the respect of the entire community. She was a loveable woman, a good mother, and at all times was a willing worker in the church and Ladies Aid Society.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn three sons, George and Albert of Hampton, Iowa, and Thorvald of Withee, and three daughters, Mrs. Anna Christensen, Mrs. Hans Clausen and Mrs. Emil Hansen, all of Withee.

Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon at the Danish Lutheran Church, Rev. Petersen officiating, and burial was made in the church cemetery. The bereaved family has the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their wife and mother.
