LaVerne Reineke

LaVerne W. Reineke, 87, Thorp, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Thorp Funeral Home. The rev. Daniel Welch officiated. Burial was in the Town of Butler Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Lisa Reineke, Craig Reineke, Rebekah Reineke, Jeff Reineke, Robert Reineke, Rodney Reineke, Jay Altmann, Randy Altmann, Linn Enockson, Kent Altmann, and Mary Jo Robus.

LaVerne Wilhemina Mayenschein was born Dec. 1, 1915 in Vernon County to William and Blanche (nee Noyes) Mayenschein. As a young girl, she moved with her family to a farm south of Thorp where she was raised and educated. She married Arthur Reineke on Nov. 6, 1932 in Thorp. They farmed in the Town of Butler all of their married life. She continued to live on the farm until her death. Her interests included spending time with her family, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include four children, William (Sharon) Reineke, Eau Claire, Beverly (Joe) Enockson, Palatine, Ill., Barbara Altmann, Marshfield, Ronald (Barbara) Reineke, Rio; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Donna Reineke, New Berlin; and two sisters, Esther Bizjak, Thorp and Lydia Pope, Park Ridge, Ill.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Arthur on Jan. 24, 1979; one son, James in Nov., 2002; one brother Curtis Mayenschien; and one sister Lodean Culp.

Thorp Funeral Home, Thorp, assisted the family with arrangements.
