James Tucker It came like a shock to his relatives and friends when Wednesday morning of last week they learned of the death of James Tucker. He was taken ill with pneumonia Tuesday afternoon and his weak heart, from which he suffered for some time, could not withstand the disease so he died that night.

James Tucker was born in Devonshire, England, August 8, 1866. In 1884, he together with his father and his brother George came to America. Two years later, the father returned to England to get his daughters and younger son, the family having decided to make America their future home. They lived for a time in Illinois, in Indiana, and in Alabama and in 1891 they came to Wisconsin. Here James bought some wild land about half way between Loyal and Greenwood which he has since cleared and made into a farm. It was at the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Mathison, where he has made his home for approximately twenty years that he died Marsh 26, 1922.

He leaves to mourn his death two brothers, George of Greenwood, Wisconsin, and Fred of Hiles, Wisconsin, and two sisters Hrs. Henry Mathison of Greenwood, Wisco0nsin and Mrs. Ignatz Uhrie of Battle Creek, Michigan. His father died only a few months before he died but his mother had died before the family left England.

Jimmie was always a kind brother and neighbor, always willing to help where help was needed. He was a firm believer in the Christian religion and for many years has been a member and a worker in the Methodist Loyal Church of Loyal. It might be said of him that he has "fought a good fight" so that he was able when the summons came to "approach his grave as one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams."

(The funeral service was held at the Henry Mathison home Saturday and was largely attended by friends and neighbors who gathered to show their esteem and respect for the departed one. Rev. J. H. Chatterson officiated at the service. Burial was in the family plot at Greenwood.
