Nielsen, Ludwig (24 Sep 1902 - 6 Jul 1921)

Ludwig Neilsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jorgen Nielsen, was born in the town of Hixon, Clark County, Wis. on Sept. 24, 1902. He grew to manhood at the same place. He attended the Frenchtown school and in due time graduated from that institution. He also attended the Danish Vacation School, and a few years ago was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a kind hearted lad and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Some time ago he was taken ill with diabetes and sought medical aid at the Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and had taken treatments of various kinds but all to no avail. He was taken violently ill on Sunday, July 3rd, but on Tuesday morning he rallied and for a time hope was entertained for his recovery, but after a relapse he passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 1921. The funeral took place on Tuesday and he was laid to rest in the Danish Cemetery beside his brother Jens, who preceded him to the grave seven and one-half months ago. He leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted parents, and three brothers, Bertel of Mountain Iron, Minn., Johannes and Richard at home, and two sisters, Karen of Chicago and Katherine at home.

The bereaved family has the sincere sympathy of a host of friends. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bertel Neilsen, Mountain Iron, Minn., Miss Karen Neilsen of Chicago and Mr. Wm. Hines of Milwaukee.
