Harvey "Steve" Brussow

Harvey C. "Steve" Brussow, 86, Loyal, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Following a 10 a.m. visitation, funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wendell Williams will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Tim Brussow, Rick Brussow, Ted Brussow, Christopher Langfeldt, Jennifer Rupert, and Bryan Langfeldt.

Harvey Charles Brussow was born July 8, 1917, in Loyal, to Helmuth and Rose (nee Neuman) Brussow. He was raised and educated in Loyal, graduating from Loyal High School in 1935. After completing his education, he worked for the August Witt Feed Mill, Loyal. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Army, and served in the Medical Corps during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Marshfield and worked at Firestone Tire Service until 1949. He bought the August Witt Feed Mill, Loyal, in 1949, changed the name to Northside Elevator and worked there until his retirement. He continued to reside in Loyal until the time of his death. He was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, served on the Loyal City Council for eight years, was mayor for two terms, was a member of the Loyal American Legion Post #175, served on the Board of Directors for the Citizens State Bank of Loyal, was a past member of the Loyal Masonic Lodge and the Loyal Rotary Club, was a member of the Marshfield Elks Club #665 and the Marshfield Eagles Club. His interests included spending time with his family, golfing, playing cards, and spending winters in Arizona.

Survivors include his companion, Bernice Szymanski, Loyal; two children, Thomas (Roseann) Brussow, Loyal, and Karlene (Dan) Langfeldt, Green Bay; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-sisters, Bev (Chuck) Arnold, Amelia Island, Fla., and Lillian Abrahamson, Tigerton.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, is assisting the family with arrangements.
