Cosgrove, John H. (29 APR 1877 - 7 DEC 1929)
John H. Cosgrove passed away at the Medford Hospital last Saturday, Dec. 7, 1929, after an illness of nine days, ulcers of the stomach being the cause of his departure. Mr. Cosgrove had been working at Medford since he left the farm, but was suddenly taken ill and was operated on at the Medford Hospital. A few days before his death, it was thought that he was recovering. Funeral services were held at the M. e. Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Millese of Medford officiating, and interment was made in the Colby Cemetery.
The deceased was born at Richland Center, Wis., on April 29, 1877, and came to this locality seven years ago and engaged in the business of farming until a few months ago, when he and his family moved to Colby, Wis. He was married to Mamie Tyler at Richland Center on May 27, 1899, to which union one son, Merel, was born. Besides his wife and son, his death is also mourned by two brothers, Wm. Cosgrove of Beloit, Wis., and Ed H. Cosgrove of Montana, and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Merel Cosgrove.
Mr. Cosgrove was a member of the Modern Woodmen lodge, in good standing for twenty-three years. He joined the M. E. Church in 1904 and has always been a faithful member. He was a faithful husband and father, and had a large circle of friends who extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
Those from out of town here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tyler of Vesper, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Guard of Gilman, Wis.
