Saturday evening, October 8, 1977, the residents and students of the Owen-Withee School District were pleased to note Owen-Withee High’s victory over Tigerton High School in the High Quiz Bowl. Owen-Withee’s winning team will met Iola-Scandinavia High School in a march at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 1977, over Wausau TV Channel 9.

The four members of the team who defeated Tigerton, 170 points to 50, are Brian Vedder, team captain, son of Mr. and Don Vedder, R.F.D. Withee; Carol Paczkowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Paczkowski of R.F.D., Withee; Brian Rohland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Rohland, also of R.F.D. Withee, and Art Hellert Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Hellert Sr. of Owen, Wisconsin. Katie Pauly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Pauly of Withee was team alternate.

Other members of the team who did not appear, but lent support and comfort, were Denise Klapatauskas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Klapatauskas of Withee; Kimberly Plautz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Plautz, R.F.D. Owen, and Kathy Zukowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zukowski of Owen.

Team coach is Peter McMillan, and he and his wife, along with Principal and Mrs. Hubert Hasleton, traveled with the team to Wausau for the filming of the event on Thursday evening.
