Wiedenhoeft, Mr./Mrs. John (Gold Anniv 19 Jul 1918)

Last Friday evening, surrounded by their family of children and a host of friends, Mr. and Mrs. John Wiedenhoeft celebrated their golden wedding. About seventy-five neighbors and friends of the couple were present and the evening was made a very enjoyable occasion. Supper was served in the old church in order to accommodate the large crowd. At 10 o'clock p.m. they went to Zion Lutheran Church, where they repeated their vows of fifty years ago that made them man and wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Wiedenhoeft were married at Tuchel, Konitz County, Prussia, July 19, 1868. Mrs. Wiedenhoeft's maiden name was Miss Augusta Mihlke. Very soon after their marriage they came to America and to Wisconsin and located at Theresa, Dodge Co., where they lived for twenty-five years. In 1883 they came to Colby, Wis. and bought the farm of George Zelle in the town of Colby, Clark County. They lived there for twenty-two years and by a great deal of hard work made a very nice farm. Three years ago they built a new residence in the city, which has been their home ever since. They are the parents of eleven children, eight of who are living. They are William of Anoka, Minn., Herman, Albert and Gustav, and Mesdames Charles Feind, Albert Franz and Ed Feind, and Miss Anna, all of who were present except William. Mr. and Mrs. Wiedenhoeft have every reason to be thankful for the fact that their lived have been spared to witness this occasion and although passing through the many ordeals which come to every one in life's struggle, they are both still hale and hearty and enjoying life to the fullest extent and it is hoped many more such years will fall to their lot.

Hi Stan, thanks for sending me reference to the Clark County Wisconsin posting of Wiedenhoeft information. Please forgive me if I am forgetting about some earlier communication we have had, but I am wondering if there is any known connection to "my" Wiedenhoeft's:

Ludwig Wiedenhoeft, born ESTIMATED 1854 in Germany, married Bertha KRAUSE. Three children: 1)Clara Bertha Wiedenhoeft born Dec 13, 1885,Koshkonong Township, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, married Herman WEGNER; 2) Henry Wiedenhoeft, married BAUMGARTNER; 3)Elsie Wiedenhoeft, married LORKE.

I have no more info on Ludwig or his wife, but for more info on descendants, please refer to my genealogy website at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~wegner/ [Look in the "Detailed Genealogies -- Andy's" pages]
