PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 09/18/1919 Weller, Henry (30
JAN 1836 - 12 Sep 1919) In the death of
Henry Weller, Sr., which occurred at 5:45 Friday morning Sept. 12,
1919, this vicinity loses one of its oldest and most respected
citizens. The cause of his demise was cancer of the stomach. Mr. Weller was
born in Germany Jan. 30, 1836, and on April 3, 1864, was united in
marriage with Marie Reuter. To this union was born eight children,
six sons and two daughters, six of who are still among the living
and reside here. They are Henry Jr., Charles, Louis, Fred, Will,
and Mrs. Herman Mueller. In the eyar 1881 the family came to
America and after residing in Sheboygan Co. for about a year the
lure of the wilds brought them to Colby, Wis., and they settled on
a homestead in the town of Hull, Marathon, Co. Under the watchful
care and thriftiness of the hardworking father, the family
withstood the trials of the early days and prospered and the old
gentleman's sound advice will long be remembered by his remaining
sorrowing children and many others. On Dec. 8, 1909,
Mr. Weller's estimable wife passed from earthly life and since that
time he has made his home with his children and at the time of this
death was staying at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mueller in the
town of Colby, Clark County. The funeral was
held last Monday, Sept. 15th, from Zion Lutheran Church in this
city, and was attended by a large gathering of neighbors and
friends, and his body was laid to rest in the Colby Cemetery. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
