Marx, Amelia (1 JAN 1853 - 24 Augl 1915)

Another pioneer was called to the great beyond when Mrs. Amelia Marx died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gusta Whitney at Proctor, Minn., at 8 o'clock in the morning, Aug. 24, 1915, at the age of 62 years 8 months and 24 days.

Amelia Kakuk was born at Zetsloffby by Stene, Frankfort, Germany, in the year 1853 and was united in marriage in 1873 to Frederick Marx. In 1874 they sailed for America and settled at Oshkosh, Wis., from where they came to Clark County, Wis. in 1878, and have resided, at what is now known as the Marx homestead, since 1890.

She, being a great sufferer the last years, still believed in keeping up her home duties and was always mindful of her duties toward her great Redeemer. She was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand and to her family never was she known to decline. She was taken to Proctor just a short time ago, where she died. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and five children, who are as follows: Mrs. G. Whitney, Proctor, Minn., Fred and Will Marx, Loyal, Hattie Grandon, Alberta, Canada, Louisa Niman, Greenwood, Clark County, and three grandchildren.

The funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the M. E. Church and the remains laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery, Rev. Powell officiating.
