Velma Hunt 1923-2003

Velma Hunt, 80, Stanley, passed away at Victory Medical Center in Stanley on April 1.

Velma was born on Jan. 28, 1923, in Stanley, the daughter of Alex and Anna (Balog) Kiraly. She grew up in the Stanley area and attended area schools. After school she worked for many years as a waitress.

Velma was united in marriage to J. D. Hutton on September 25, 1947, in Stanley. Along with raising a family, she was employed at the Stanley-Boyd area schools as a school cook and was well known by all the kids and was a "Mother" to many around town.

Velma will be remembered by her children as a loving mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was involved with Holy Family Ladies Aide.

Velma is survived by her husband, J. D.; her children, Jim (Judy) of Fairfax, Va., Steve (Sharon) of Cadott, David (Diane) of Stanley and Jackie (Bob) Colby of Winona, Minn.; her grandchildren, Andy, Billy and Tommy Hunt of Virginia, Ryan Hunt of Cottage Grove and Lana Nelson of Madison, John David, Desken and Karradine Hunt of Stanley, Dan Kastel of Stanley and Julie Schmitt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 14 great-grandchildren; Alex Kiraly, Jr. of Kenosha; one sister, Matilda Linstedt of Stanley; and one sister-in-law, Joyce (Kiraly) Halldorson of Yuma, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Anna Kiraly, and one brother, Steve Kiraly of Chippewa Falls.

Friends May call today from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel in Stanley.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley. Father Robert Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Stanley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be donated to the charity of their choice.
