Garbisch, Clarence (1897? - 6 Mar 1913)

On last week Thursday while Gust Garbisch of the town of York, Clark County, Wis. and his son Clarence were out in the woods cutting cord wood, the son was fatally injured and died shortly afterward.

Mr. Garbisch felled a tree and called to the boy to run in a certain direction, but he misunderstood him and went the wrong way and one of the limbs of the tree struck him on the side of the head and shoulder. Dr. McGonigal was called and did what could to relieve the pain, but it was evident that he received internal injuries that would prove fatal. Mr. Garbisch himself carries severe scratches on the side of his face where the limbs of the tree scratched him in his effort to try to save and protect the boy.

When death strikes down the innocent and young, for every fragile form from which he lets the panting spirit free, a hundred virtues rise, in shapes of mercy, charity and love, to walk the world and bless it.

Mr. and Mrs. Garbisch have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

The funeral services were held at the home on Monday and the remains buried in the cemetery at Granton, Clark County.
