Carver, Rhoda (26 JUL 1831 - 20 Feb 1910)

Mrs. Horace Carver died at her home in the town of Loyal, Clark County, Wis. on Sunday, feb. 20, 1910, of heart failure and old age. The funeral took place on Tuesday from her home and the remains shipped to Schleisingerville and taken to Hartford for burial in the family lot.

Rhoda Matteson was born at Homburg, N.Y., July 26, 1831, and came to Wisconsin with her father, Gustav Matteson, in 1844, who took up a farm three and a half miles north of Hartford, the rest of the family joining them the following year. Her early life was one of hardships and privations, as was common to the early pioneer settlers, but she was ever an earnest, helpful worker and of great assistance to those about her in times of sickness and distress.

Deceased was married to Horace Carver in Hartford and they moved to this place and located on the farm where she died about fifteen years since. She is survived by Mr. Carver and the following children: Esther of Loyal, Amanda, (Mrs. Howland) of Milwaukee, Chole, (Mrs. B. W. Barber) of West Bend, and Mark and Abbie of Loyal.
