Maslowski, Helen December 31, 2001

Helen Maslowski, age 100, of Thorp, died on Monday, December 31, 2001 at Victory Medical Center, in Stanley, at 10:38pm.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5,2002 at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp. Father John Puerner officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig's Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday, at the church, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Helen Pizywara was born August 18, 1901, to Thomas and Victoria (Stachnik)Przywara. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Stanley where they farmed near Juncion. She moved back to Chicago to work, and it was there that she met John Maslowski. They were united in marriage on September 12, 1922, in Stanley, and resided in Chicago for a few years. They brought a farm east of Thorp, moved there and began farming. Helen worked as a cook for St. Hedwig's School and also cooked for weddings and funerals for many years. In 1972, they moved off of the farm and into Thorp, where she resided until entering the nursing home in February 1996. Her husband John died in August of 1996. Helen continued to reside at Victory Medical Center until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Bernard's-Hedwig's Catholic Church and was an active member of its P.C.C.W. Helen enjoyed cooking, backing for people and especially her family.

She is survived by three daughters: Evelyn Jacobsen of Des Plaines, IL, Dolores Stohman of Marshfield, Patrica Kohlbeck of Mazeppa, MN; one son, Edward J. (Shirley) Maslowski of Thorp; 16 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; and one sister Jeanette Plac of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
