Sanders, John E. (7 Jul 1858 - 30 Apr 1917)

John Edwin Sanders was born at Watertown, Wis., July 7, 1858 and passed away from this life at Ashland, Wis., April 30, 1917. The cause of death was stomach trouble.

Mr. sanders was married at New Holstein, Wis. in 1883 to Miss Anna E. Borman. To them were born five children, four of who are still living.

Mr. Sanders came to Clark County, Wis. with his parents in 1871, settling at Longwood, and later moving on a farm near Thorp, where they lived until 1901. It would seem that his life was destined to be that of a pioneer for on leaving Clark County he went again into the newer section of the Lake region, settling on a homestead at Mercer, Wis.

He is survived by one brother, three sons, and a daughter, his wife having passed away while the family resided here in 1900, Mr. R. L. Sanders, a brother, residing in Greenwood, Bernard of Park Falls, Mrs. Levi Sleight of Mercer, Wis. and Harry R. and Marion of Eddyside, Sas., Canada.

Mr. Sanders was one of the early settlers in this part of Clark County, He is spoken of by his many old friends as "a good man," a better monument than his could not be erected. He was a member of the M. E. Church at Mercer, Wis.

The funeral took place from the M. E. Church here on Friday afternoon last, Rev. A. M. Ivey officiating, burial following in the family lot at the Thorp Village Cemetery. R. L. Sanders, brother of deceased, and all the children of the latter except Marion, were present to attend the funeral.
