Lanphear, Elisha (26FEB 1823 - 25 Feb 1894)

Elisha Lanphear died of pneumonia at his home in the town of Reseburg, Clark County, Wis. on Sunday Evening, Feb. 25, 1894. Mr. Lanphear was born near Ogdensburg, NY on Feb. 26, 1823, where he resided until 1859, when he came to Wisconsin and settled on a farm near Greenbush, Sheboygan, Co. Upon the call for volunteers he enlisted in Co. B, 8th Wis., in which regiment he served faithfully during the continuance of the war. In 1882 he removed to a farm near this village where, with the exception of last year, he has since resided. Mr. Lanphear was twice married, his first wife dying during the war, the second dying here about four years ago. His children, three in number, all by his first wife, are Joseph Lanphear of Ely, Minn., Mrs. Julia Gillman of Greenbush, Wis., and Mrs. Eva Hill of Osceola, Iowa, all of whom survive him. The interment took place yesterday, Asbra Welcome Post No. 193 having charge of the exercises, which were held at the Baptist Church.
