Selves, Elmer (21 OCT 1862 - 7 Apr 1918)

Elmer Selves, who lived east of the city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), died Sunday at the hospital in Eau Claire, following an operation on Saturday for ulcers of the stomach.

He was born at Buffalo, N.Y. Oct. 21, 1862, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Selves. He came with the family to Pleasant Ridge when he was three years old. Here he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Emma Randall Nov. 11, 1882. Later they moved to a farm near the city, which he carried on and also worked at the mason trade. He was a good workman, an honest upright citizen, a fair and conscientious man in all his dealings with his fellow men. He was a kind husband and father, and an accommodating neighbor. He was for many years a prominent member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and the Modern Woodmen.

He leaves a wife and two sons, Byron and Hugh; also an aged mother, four brothers: Thomas, Richard, William and Edward Selves, and one sister, Mrs. Estelle Snyder, of Neillsville.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday under the auspices of the Eastern star, of which Mrs. Davis was an honored member. Rev. G.W. Longenecker also assisted in the services.
