Grimm, Althea G. (24 Feb 1914 - 30 OCT 2002)

Aletha G. Grimm, 88, a former Stratford, Wis. resident, died at 3:35 p.m. Oct. 30, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted earlier in the day.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford. The Rev. Mary N. Pol, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, will officiate. Judy Polege will be the organist.

Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Altmann, Leslie Lillge, Ronald Schuette, Lawrence Spring, Dale Dooge and Donald Wenzel.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Aletha was born Feb. 24, 1914, in Granton, Clark County, Wis., the daughter of Neil and Annice (McHone) Downer. She was a graduate of Neillsville High School and attended Neillsville Teachers Training School. She then taught in Clark County schools near Greenwood for several years.

On May 15, 1935, Alice and Alfred G. Grimm were married in Wisconsin Rapids. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Stratford. Alfred died Sept. 19, 1989.

Aletha resided in Stratford until 2000 when she moved to Marshfield. She had resided at Wells Nature View C.B.R.F. on East 21st Street until the present time. She taught quilting classes in Stratford and enjoyed craft work, sewing, gardening and traveling.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, and the Stratford Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her children, Shirley (Thomas) Forbish of Marshfield and their children Mark Forbish and Jan Marie Miller; Allene Joyce (Arnold) Trachte of Pink Hill, N.C., and their children, Lisa Gellings, Russell Trachte, Shelly Haberman, Bradley Trachte and Jennifer Murphy. She is further survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Ronald, in infancy; and a brother, Ross who died in 1989.
