Blakeslee, George (22 Jul 1864 - 8 Dec 1920)

On Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, 1920, at 2:00 o’clock, Mr. Geo. A. Blakeslee, 2815 Girard Av. North, passed away after two months illness.

On Tuesday evening preceding his death he had sat up until after 11 o’clock and visited with his family, relatives and friends, and had remarked just before retiring that he hadn’t felt so good for some time. About half past twelve he complained of not feeling well and at two o’clock he died. The cause of death was heart trouble.

Mr. Blakeslee was born in Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., Jul 22, 1864. On March 18, 1896, he was married to Miss Mary Herian. In 1900 they moved to Minneapolis where Mr. Blakeslee has been engaged in the laundry business, and at the time of his death owned the Ideal Laundry, 81-81 Western Av.

Mr. Blakeslee was a kind and loving father and husband, a man whose friendship was cherished by all his acquaintances. Besides a large circle of friends he leaves his wife and eight children to mourn his loss. The children are Oscar, Thomas and Lawrence: Misses Minnie, Frances, Isabelle, Lucille and Alice, all at home. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: O.S. Blakeslee, Minneapolis; F.G. Blakeslee of Olympia, Wash., and Mrs. C.M. Beebe and Mrs. S.D. Beebe of Sparta, Wis. All the above mentioned except the two brothers at Olympia, Wash., were present for the funeral.

The funeral was held today, Friday, at two o’clock from the home. Rev. Father Harrington officiated. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. (Minneapolis Herald)
