Minsaas, John (30 JUN 1861 - 20 Dec 1933)

John Minsaas, 72, died at his home seven miles northwest of Greenwood, Clark County, Wis., last Wednesday morning after an illness of six weeks. Mr. Minsaas had been blind for many years.

Funeral services were held at the United Lutheran Church yesterday afternoon, Rev. M.K. Aaberg officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Minsaas had been a resident of this vicinity for many years. He is survived by his wife and nine grown children.

John Edward Minsaas, son of Andrew and Engeborg Minsaas, was born in Wardallen, Trondhjem, Norway on June 30, 1861 and passed away at his home in the town of Warner, Clark County, Wis., Dec. 20, 1933 at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 10 days. He came to America in 1882 and spent his early days in Michigan, Minneapolis, Minn., and Eau Claire.

He was united in marriage at Eau Claire to Miss Bolette (Boletta?) Martinson on April 11, 1895 by Rev. Lanjher. They resided in Eau Claire for a few years, coming to Greenwood in 1898, where he purchased a piece of land in the town of Beaver, Clark County, Wis. They lived there for several years and he also worked in the north woods part of the time. He was hurt in the woods and this caused his blindness. He has been blind for 23 years.

He is survived by his wife and nine grown children: Ida, Mrs. Frank Tetzloff OF La Crosse; Inga, Mrs. Palmer Nelson of Canton, S.D.; Agnes, Mrs. Clarence Henchen of Globe; Mattie, Mrs. Wm. Hansen of Greenwood; Paul of the town of Eaton Center; Serina, Laura, Malro, and Julius at home, and four brothers, Anton, Martin, Morris and Anuse.

His brother Anton is now living at the home of the deceased. He also leaves 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Anna, a brother Paul, and a daughter, Anna, Mrs. Bruno Schatzel, who passed away three years ago.

Funeral services were held at home seven miles northwest of Greenwood, Clark County, Wis., Wednesday Dec. 26, 1933, Rev. M.K. Aaberg officiating. He is laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
