Carteron, Una Mae (13 JUN 1901 - 6 Apr 1934)

Miss Una Mae Carteron, R.N. was accidentally killed in an automobile accident on Highway 73, about five miles north of this city, at about one o’clock Friday morning, April 6, 1934. Miss Carteron, Miss Alvera Dahlby and Wesley Schwarze were returning home from Owen when the tragedy occurred. Miss Carteron sprang or was thrown from the moving automobile as the vehicle struck a soft spot in the highway and lurched toward the ditch. She was pinned beneath the car as it overturned. Drs. Olson and Gaillardet were called to the scene of the accident, but found that her chest had been crushed and that death must have been instantaneous. Schwarze and Miss Dahlby were only slightly hurt.

Una Mae Carteron, R.N., was born to Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Carteron in Chickasaw County, Iowa, June 13, 1901. She resided there for one year, when her parent moved to Dane County, Wis. The esteem in which she was held was manifest by the large attendance at the funeral services, which were held at the local Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Rev. Glenn H. Shanks officiated. Burial took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.
