Warner, Mary (5 APR 1859 - 19 Augl 1933)

Mrs. Mary Hommel Warner was born at West Salem, Wis., April 5, 1859 and came to Clark County, Wis. with her parents in the early sixties. She was one of five children, John William Hommel, who died at Neillsville on Jan. 31, 1927; Henry Hommel, who died at White Pigeon, Mich. More than thirty years ago; George of San Benito, Texas and Edward of Seattle, Wash.

She was married to Leroy Warner of the Town of Warner, Clark County and to this union was born four children, Bessie, Mrs. I. C. Hall of Terry, Mont.; Hazel, Mrs. Harvey Flatz and Donald of Greenwood. One son, Harold, preceded her in death fifteen years ago. Mr. Warner passed away about four years ago.

Mrs. Warner passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 1933 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been hurriedly taken on Thursday night. She had reached the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 4 days.

Funeral services were held from the Harvey Flatz home, Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. P.H. Franzmeier officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery beside her family.

Other survivors beside her children are three grandchildren Norman and Harold, children of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Warner and Dalmain, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Flatz, Mrs. V.C. Woelffer of Neillsville is the only niece in this part of the country.

Mary Warner was indeed known well; her friends were legion. She was a wonderful mother, meeting every adversity with courage and cheerfulness; a wonderful friend in fair weather and foul; a helpful neighbor in sickness or in health and one to whom people turned, knowing the generous hearted, sympathetic nature of the woman who lived her religion in daily life and whose pleasant face and words were an antidote for all ills and who went to those in need rather than waiting to be sought out. "Aunt" Mary will be sadly missed by many who knew and loved her well and the one compensating thought is that she was spared years of physical suffering.
