Bergum, Otto (15 ARP 1911 - 30 JUN 1929)

Otto Bergum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bergum, was born in Ostre Guasday, Guldbransdalen, Norway, April 15, 1911. At the age of 3 he came with his parents to Vernon County, Wisconsin and lived near Westby until at the age of 13, when he moved with his parents to Greenwood, Clark County and remained there until the time of his death June, 30, 1929, age 18 years, 2 months and 15 days.

So sudden and so unexpected was the message that it can hardly be realized that he is gone and yet we must believe that it was all for the best. He was confirmed in the United Lutheran Church by Rev. M.K. Aaberg, Oct. 11th, 1925.

Funeral services were held July 3rd, after a short devotion at the home, the services were held at the Greenwood Church, with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Aaberg gave a very fitting talk and reminded us as he has before to be prepared to meet death at all times. Three appropriate songs were rendered by members of the Greenwood choir. He was carried to his last resting place by Herbert Olson, Everett Kolstad, Kenneth Dyre, Godfrey Dyre, Clayton Afkend and Louis Meinholdt.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, four brothers, Herman of Westby, Axel of Viroqua, Mrs. Joel Stranstalein of Westby, Mrs. Bernard Bragstad of Milwaukee and Guuin at home, many relatives and a host of friends. He also leaves an aged grandfather in Norway.
