Dingley, Norman (10 OCT 1889 - 8 Mar 1907)

After a long and heroic struggle of some seven months, Norman C. Dingley, so of Mrs. A. Dingley, and one of Greenwood, Clark County, Wisconsin’s most promising young men, died at the Marshfield hospital shortly before midnight last Friday, from tubercular peritonitis, aged 17 years. There being no long distance nigh telephone service here, the attempt to get word to Greenwood before the morning train left, failed. However, Mrs. Mary Warner, Mrs. W.H. Palms and Mrs. Ralph Ferneau were driven to Loyal by Geroge Thompson, from which place they returned with Mrs. Dingley and the body by the afternoon train.

The funeral occurred Monday afternoon at two o’clock from the Baptist Church, Rev. N. F. Clark of Neenah conducting the service, assisted by Rev. W.T. Hendren and Rev. J.J. Robinson, the interment being in the Greenwood Cemetery. The pallbearers consisted of James Thompson, Alvin Anderson, Ward Raymond, Harry Cornick, Moses Zaffke and Llewylln Young, high school mates of Norman. The attendance was very large.

Norman was a member of the Baptist Church here, and was loved by all who knew him for his clean character, affectionate nature and high ideals. To his mother and sister he was everything that son and brother could signify. To say that all will miss him cannot express it. Coming as it has almost within a year of the death of her husband, this loss is very hard for the bereaved mother and sister.

To the many kind friends who have been so considerate and helpful, Mrs. Dingley wishes to express her full appreciation.
