Vandercook, Addie M. (1860 - 21 NOV 1893)

Daily Courier - Winfield, Kansas Nov. 21, 1893

For the last several weeks scarcely a day has passed but that the Courier has published an account of the death of a citizen of Winfield or vicinity, and today it is called to chronicle the death of one that causes many an eye to grow dim with tears. A mother loved, happy and that reigned supreme in the hearts of a happy family, is called upon by the grim Destroyer, and borne to those mystic region where mothers find rest from all the loved cares of the days.

Mrs. Vandercook had lived to see the day when, by the side of a loving husband, she could with all a mother’s love begin to see the brightening, and could shape the future destinies of her boys, the eldest of whom was just now reaching the age when all a mother’s love and sympathy is called upon to govern the steps of the youth.

Addie May Van Luther was born in 1860 in Tennessee, and died at 10:00 a.m., Nov. 21st, 1893. She was married fourteen years ago to Henry Vandercook, the present foreman of J. P. Baden’s Mills.

She leaves three boys, the oldest nine years and the youngest a babe scarcely three weeks old, who will never know a mother’s love, besides a loving father.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the residence, 621 West Tenth Av.
