Lewandowski, Julia (1863 - 15 Dec 1930)

Mrs. Anton Lewandowski, 65, was fatally injured when a car driven by John Witteck of Lublin struck her down as she crossed Highway 29 on Monday forenoon, just west of St. Hedwig’s Church. Coming from the church with Mrs. Kaczor after attending the funeral of Mrs. Ludwig Subarczyk she attempted to cross the road to the car of a friend and walked right in front of the upcoming machine, receiving injuries which proved fatal. She died at Victory Hospital at Stanley Monday afternoon.

Slippery conditions contributed materially toward the mishap.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewandowski have retired from active farming and moved into town, where they were living at the M. Kass place.

The aged lady was brought in to Dr. F. P. Neis’ office immediately and the extent of her injuries determined. She had suffered fractures of a leg and arm and also severe hip injuries. The pelvic bones of her left hip were fractured. From here she was taken to Victory Hospital at Stanley where she passed away about 3:30 Monday afternoon.

Funeral services are to be held on Thursday morning at St. Hedwig’s Church.
