Brunett, Robert F. (27 July 1923 - 18 Dec. 2004)

Barron

12/29/2004

Robert F. Brunett, 81, died Dec. 18, 2004.

Robert was born in Thorp, Wis., July 27, 1923. He spent most of his school years in Chetek, graduating from Chetek High School in 1941. He was a member of his high school football team and, not surprisingly enjoyed working onstage in the school’s drama productions.

Following high school he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served three years as a gunner during WWII In North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Germany and France. Upon returning home, he married his sweetheart, Alberta Kreier of Chetek. This October they celebrated their 59th anniversary.

He attended Iowa State in Ames, making life-long friends among other post-war married students. Bob, Al and their three children resided in Rice Lake, Chetek, Spooner and Cameron, Wis., before moving to Dell Rapids in 1967 where Bob worked 17 years for Norwest Bank as an insurance sales manager.

After retirement Bob used his love of conversation visiting patients in various area rest homes every week. Prior to leaving Dell Rapids he was featured in the local paper as "Wednesday Bob" for weekly visits.

Bob and Al returned to Wisconsin in May, 2003, residing in Barron. He immensely enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, making new friends and rediscovering his favorite fishing spots.

A lifelong Green Bay Packer fan, Bob always rooted fervently for his team and for anyone who was playing the Vikings. One of his fondest memories was attending Super Bowl I, and later treating each of his children to a Super Bowl experience. He was an expert knitter and crocheter, keeping family and friends in afghans, booties and mittens.

Anyone who didn’t know Bob Brunett, just had never come in contact with him. With his quick smile and "gift of gab," Bob touched many lives with his zest for life. He never met a person he didn’t talk with.

Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Alberta Kreier Brunett, his sister, Beverly, and her husband Jim Jamison of Solon Springs, Wis.; his children: Bob and Karla Brunett of Rochester, Minn.; Sandy Brunett and Jim Carraher of San Jose, Calif.; and Lynn and John Gevens of Barron; six grandchildren: Amanda Brunett (Shawn) Donovan, Kendall Brunett Carraher, Brett, Bartt and Heather Gevens and one great-grandchild, Jonathan Robert Brunett Donovan, who he adored.

He is preceded in death by his father, Romain Brunett, his mother, Nina Brunett Darge, his brother, Romain, and grandson, Robb Brunett.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. John Erickson officiating. Rausch-Rockman Funeral Service of Barron handled the arrangements.
