DORCHESTER -Lavern A. Michlig, 77, of Dorchester died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at the Memorial Health Center in Medford.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester. The Parish Council of Catholic Women will have a rosary service at 4 p.m. and there will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.

DORCHESTER -Lavern A. Michlig, 77, Dorchester, died Wednesday May 11, 2005, at Memorial Health Center in Medford.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. The Rev. James Schaefer will officiate.

Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Michlig, Dave Michlig, Jason Michlig, Justin Michlig, Jake Dums and Brian Michlig. Full military honors will be conducted by Leach Paulsen American Legion Post No. 517, Dorchester.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester. There will be a PCCW rosary service at 4 p.m. and a general parish rosary at 7 p.m.

Lavern was born Oct. 16, 1927, in the town of Hull, Marathon County, to John and Catherine (Handrick) Michlig. He attended schools in Laona, Curtiss and Abbotsford. Lavern served his country in the U.S. Army from February 1946 until July 1947. Lavern and Beatrice "Bea" Michlig were married on Aug. 16, 1947, in Marysville, Mo. He was the manager of Bootzin Feed Store from 1948 to 1953. He then was a foreman at Dorchester Furniture Factory for Beasleys and Simerson until 1973. Lavern worked as a postal clerk in Dorchester and Wausau and was a rural route carrier for Dorchester and Curtiss until he retired on Nov. 30, 1990. He was a stock car driver in Stratford and Rangeline and bowled with Hawks Insurance of Abbotsford and in area senior leagues. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Tee Hi Golf Club and Dorchester American Legion Post No. 517, and was a former member of the Dorchester Lions.

Lavern is survived by his wife, Beatrice "Bea" Michlig of Dorchester; his children, Connie (Tom) Dums of Rib Lake, Larry Michlig of Menasha, Jerry Michlig of Unity, Keith " Buck" (Lori) Michlig of Abbotsford and Richard (Laura) Michlig of Kansas City; 11 grandchildren; his sister, Mary Ann (Donald) Frane of Colby; his brothers, Jerome (Dorene) Michlig of Colby, Hilarion (Mona) Michlig of Dorchester and David (Beverly) Michlig of Abbotsford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lorraine Ewert; and a daughter-in-law, Deborah Michlig.
