Marvin E. Menger, 69, Chili, died Saturday in the Hospice Care Unit of St. Joseph's hospital, Marshfield, where had been admitted Friday.

Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, with burial in Yolo Cemetery.

He was born July 22, 1917, at Edgar, to Edward and Carrie (Zielicke) Menger. He attended Edgar schools and was a 1935 gradute of Edgar High School. He then worked in the lumber business for several years.

He married Gladys Hoppenworth August 23, 1939, at St. John's Lutheran Church in the town of Wein. He owned and operated his own garage at Chili for several years before purchasing the Chili IGA which he operated until 1971. He was then employed at Jensen Motors, Spencer, until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

Surviving, besides his wife, are a son James, Prescott, AZ; four brothers, John, Garvin, MN, Irving, Wausau, Lowell, Birmingham, AL, and Roger, Milwaukee; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother.
