Haavisto, Ronald (17 NOV 1943 - 29 Jul 1945)

Owen, Clark Co., Wis. - Ronald Haavisto, 21-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eino Haavisto, Green Grove Township, was drowned in a large kettle of water in the barnyard at his parents’ farm just before noon Friday.

The child was seen playing at 11:30 and 20 minutes later his mother discovered his body in the kettle, which had been used as a water trough for calves. The boy’s father said the receptacle contained about 18 inches of water.

Dr. G. G. Shields of Abbotsford was called to the home and he called Coroner H. L. Brown, who pronounced the case accidental death.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Green Grove Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday, according to present plans.

Ronald Eugene Haavisto was born at Owen on Nov. 17, 1943. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Carl, 15, and Delbert, 4, and by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pipkorn, Spencer, route 1, and Mrs. Hilja Haavisto, Longwood Township. Two sisters of the child died last winter.
