Gilroy, Amanda (22 OCT 1930)

At 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22, 1930, a large audience had assembled at St. John’s Reform Church, Humbird, Wis., to witness the first wedding held in the church altho’ having been built over 15 years, and hear Mr. Martin Fisher, Spencer, and Miss Amanda Gilroy of Humbird exchange vows and pledge each other their troth to be pronounced man and wife by Rev. Wielder, pastor of the congregation. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Fisher of the town of Sherman.

As the bridal party ascended the church steps, Mr. John Greuber, Sr, rang the bell. To the strains of the "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin with Mrs. John O. Mueller, Spencer, sister of the bride at the organ, the bride marched down the aisle accompanied by her brother William who gave her in marriage to be met by the groom. They were preceded by the little flower girl, Arleen Mueller, Spencer, niece of the bride who carried a basket of yellow and white chrysanthemums and little Dorthea Zimmerman, Humbird, cousin of the bride who carried the rings, attractively arranged on a large yellow chrysanthemums, and by the maid of honor Miss Hulda Fisher, Spencer, sister of the groom and Miss Evelyn Zimmerman, Humbird, cousin of the bride. They were met by their partners, Clarence Gilroy, brother of the bride, and Arthur Fisher, brother of the groom and marched to their places.

Wilbur Fisher, brother of the groom and Robert Gilroy, brother of the bride acted as ushers.

The bride was attractively gowned in white satin with Spanish lace trim. She wore a tulle veil, arranged in cap effect, held in place with bands of orange blossoms. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations.

The groom was attired in a navy blue suit as were both his attendants. They wore white carnation boutonnieres.

The maid of honor wore a frock of pink satin and the bridesmaid wore a peach chiffon frock. Each wore a head dress and carried a bouquet of yellow and white chrysanthemums and roses.

The ring-bearer was daintily attired in a yellow satin frock and the flower girl in white.

After Mrs. Wil. Thieler sang a solo "I Love You Truly" with Mrs. Roy Creviston at the organ. The pastor addressed the bridal couple which was followed by the solemnization of the marriage in which the double ring service was used. Mrs. Howard Hemming, Humbird then sang the solo entitled, "Oh. Promise Me," after which felicitations were extended to the bride and groom who upon making their exit from the church entered into the waiting car tastefully decorated with yellow and white which took them to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Gilroy, of Humbird, parents of the bride, at which place a 6 o’clock dinner was served by the Misses Adeline, Martha and Ruth Woodruff and Margaret Newton. A color scheme of pink, yellow and white was carried out in the dining room.

Mr. and Mrs. Fisher left Sunday for a short trip. On their return they will make their home at the home place. (By Cozy Corner Correspondent)

The Tribune joins their many friends in offering Congratulations to the newly weds.
