Dehnert, Fred "Fritz" (*1914 - 23 April 2005) * Could be off

Fred "Fritz" Dehnert, 90, of Neillsville, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield after battling two years of congestive heart failure and kidney failure.

Fred was born and raised in the Lake Mills area, the son of George and Ida (Schmidt) Dehnert. In 1939, he married Vivian Hagen of Fort Atkinson. They moved to Milwaukee, where he worked in a defense plant in West Allis. In 1942, he moved to Watertown and went into construction work for Milwaukee Union. He worked 28 years on construction, retiring in 1970, and then purchased Christie Tavern, which he operated until 1985 and then moved to his present home in Neillsville.

He leaves his wife, Vi, of 65 years and two daughters, Beverly of Rock Falls, Ill., and Sandra (Dennis) Olson of Beloit; 13 grandchildren; one brother; nieces and nephews; and two of his buddies, Verlyn Shaw and Bud Kuester.

Preceding him in death was his daughter, Judy; one nephew; one niece; seven brothers; and his parents.

A memorial service for Fritz will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Beibert will officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Trunkel, organist.
