Stone, Mary E. (13 SEP 1853 - 20 May 1929)

Mrs. Fremont Stone, who was visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gust Liepke, north of the village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.), died Monday, May 20th, 1929, of pneumonia and was buried Thursday afternoon, May 23, from the Evangelical Church, Rev. P. F. Walter officiating and Wm. Malchow, Dell Winchell, Wm. Schraeder, Wm. Rau, Mr. Besen and Mr. Tischendorf acting as pallbearers.

Mary Evangeline Williams was born in Utica, N.Y., Sept. 13, 1853, and was 74 years, 8 months and 7 days at time of death. In 1877 she was united in marriage to Fremont Stone. Five children were born to them, two preceding the mother in death. For some time Mrs. Stone shared her home with her daughter, Mrs. R. D. Whitney of Faulkton, S.D., but a short time ago she arrived in Dorchester to visit her daughter, Mrs. Gust Liepke and family, and here she was taken ill and passed away. Besides the two daughters already mentioned, she leaves one son, Arial William Stone of South Bend, Ind., and seven grandchildren to mourn her loss. In early childhood Mrs. Stone joined the Presbyterian Church and always loved communion with God’s people. Her work is over and her hands are stilled but the dear ones can take comfort in the thought that she has only gone on before and will be waiting on the other shore.

The many friends of the Liepke’s join us in offering sympathy to all these who have lost a dear one. Her son and wife and her daughter from South Dakota were all here as was also a cousin and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Law of Stratford.
