Anton Helfert died at Wausau last week Thursday, and was buried from St. Louis Catholic Church here Monday morning, Sept. 24th, Rev. Paul Pitzenberger officiating, and the pallbearers were John Mueller, Nick Gri?, Henry Jantsch, Edward Rauscher, Wenzel Renner and Wm. Hennlich.

Anton Helfert was born in Austria on Sept. 4th, 1872, and when he was 14 years old he, with his parents, immigrated to the United States, coming to Manitowoc, Wis. On May 29th, ?? he was in marriage to Miss Pauline Gass of Manitowoc, at Silver ??. Eight children were born to them, all of whom with the mother survive him. They are Joseph, Agnes, ??, Charles, Anthony, Paul, Nick and Cecelia, who are all at home, but Agnes, who is employed at Manitowoc.

After they were married, Mr. and Mrs. Helfert came to Dorchester and bought of Joe Bartnik the farm they are now residing on, six miles north?? Of the village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.)

Anton was a man who was keenly interested in anything that was of benefit to himself and those about him. He was active in all co-operative measures and was affiliated with the Cloverdale cheese factory as an officer for a number of years. He was a good and kind father and the kind of a neighbor anyone enjoys being near.

Over three years ago he suffered a nervous breakdown following a severe attack of the flu and was taken to Wausau to be cared for. About ? weeks ago pneumonia set in which resulted in his death.

He will be missed by all who knew him, but he has gone on to that larger and finer life where all is well. The Clarion and the many friends extend the hand of sympathy to the mourning ones.

The relatives besides the immediate family who were here were Joe Gass Sr., Mrs. Helfert’s father; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gass Jr., Otto Gass, Mr.a nd Mrs. Mathew Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holschbach, Mrs. Ernest Holschbach, all of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Chas. Backhaus of Boyd.
