Julian J. Andersen, 89, 212 East G Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at his residence following a brief illness.

A native of Withee, Wis., Mr. Andersen was a former resident of Villa Park, Ill., and had resided in Elizabethton since 1969. He was the son of the late Hans Christian and Bertha Nielsen Andersen. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mr. Andersen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, where he was former chairman of the deacons and former chairman of the buildings and grounds committee, and also served on various committees of the church. He was a retired maintenance superintendent from Moody Aviation. Survivors include his wife, Ione Enola Hunerjager Andersen, of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Robert Schlak, El Paso, Texas, Sylvia Jean and the Rev. James Lange, Minneapolis, Minn., one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Edward and June Andersen, Glen Ellyn, Ill., 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Margaret Jensen, Kenosha, Wis., Alice Jensen, Pittsburgh, Pa., Verna Struble, Kenosha, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.

ANDERSEN -- Funeral services for Julian J. Andersen, 89, 212 East G Street, Elizabethton, who died Friday, March 21, 2003, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. The committal and entombment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum of Peace following the funeral service. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Men's Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Tetrick Funeral Home, or friends May call at the residence, 212 East G Street, Elizabethton, any time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers May make donations in memory of Mr. Andersen to Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, TN 37644, or to Building Fund, Calvary Baptist Church, 225 North Holly Lane, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
