Burns, Elizabeth (21 Sep 1926)

On Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 21st, 1926, a very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Mrs. August Hoffman home when her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Burns, became the wife of Mr. Carl Bunke, Rev. Martin Glaeser of Stetsonville officiating, using the double ring ceremony. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Becker of Barton, Wis., Mr. Bunke's daughter and her husband. They marched downstairs to the strains of Lohengrin Wedding March played by Miss Hilda Krakenberger and took their place under a large white bell and an arch of pink and white streamers. Pink and white streamers decorated the entire house.

The bride was beautifully attired in silver gray charmeuse, gray stockings and slipper and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of roses and ferns. The matron of honor, Mrs. Becker, was dressed in a lovely blue flat crepe and carried a bouquet of roses and ferns.

The gentlemen were dressed in the usual conventional dark suits and wore boutonnieres.

After the ceremony the bridal party autoed to Medford in Mrs. John Sturner's car to have their picture taken. Upon their return everyone gathered around the festive board and a very bountiful meal was efficiently served to a large company of guests, by Misses Mildred Lange and Margaret Martens.

The tables were decorated in keeping with the rest of the house in pink and white with large bouquets of pin and white cosmos. An extra fine wedding cake graced the center of the table where the bridal couple sat. It was really a work of art and does much credit to our local baker, A. C. Keiper, who made it.

After the reception at the home of the bride, the guests all repaired to Esser's Hall where they enjoyed themselves dancing until long after midnight.

About midnight lunch was served to the assembled guests, which was much enjoyed by all.

The bride's after midnight dress was a figured blue and tan silk with a pleated fancy flounce and lovely tan lace collar with jabot and tan lace on the sleeves which made it a very dainty gown indeed.

The bride needs no introduction to our Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. readers for she has lived her all her life, first as Elizabeth Hoffman and then Mrs. Burns, and has always lived with and cared for her aged mother, and there they will continue to live.

Mr. Bunke is a prosperous farmer living southwest of the village and he also has a host of friends who join us in wishing them both much joy and happiness together.

The out of town folks here were the groom's brother, Mr. Otto Bunke and family of Milan; Mr. Edgar Becker's father and brother, William, of Barton; Mr. and Mrs. John Sturner and Hobart Sturner of Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Riplinger of Riplinger; Mr. and Mrs. George Putnam and Mr. Larson of Redville; Mrs. E. J. Young and her mother and sister, Mrs. and Miss O'Connor and her two cousins, Miss Mollie Wall and Miss Mae Butler of Chicago, and Mrs. Jacob Grimm of Arpin, Wis.
