Delbert D. Baird, 90, of Marshfield died on Feb. 25, 2005, at the Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank L. Picard of St. Paul's United Church of Christ will officiate. Maldon Plank will provide music and Duane Helgerson will serve as soloist. VFW Post 1866 will conduct military honors. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Delbert's nephews.

Friends May call from 10 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Baird was born July 10, 1914, in Clarence, Iowa, the son of the late George and Mabel (Dewell) Baird. He attended Neillsville School. He then went to work on the family farm. On Aug. 19, 1936, Delbert married the former Mary H. Wiesner in Racine. Delbert and Mary made their home in Neillsville and then later moved to Marshfield. Delbert enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in World War II. After his service to his country, Delbert returned home and worked at Rollo-Home and then Wick Homes until retirement. In retirement, Mr. Baird continued to do house painting.

Delbert was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He enjoyed working, telling stories, especially of his youth, friends, and helping others whenever the opportunity arose.

Mr. Baird is survived by one brother, Richard (Geraldine) Baird of Hewitt, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Delbert in death was his wife, Mary in 1967; and three sisters, Mildred Meyer, Esther Crocker and Grace Buddy.
